The Promiseland Project

AMERICA'S FRONT PORCH

We’re taking America’s Front Porch across the Country

The Promiseland Project is harnessing the power of communication to bring people together, discuss shared values and shared problems and perhaps even discover a shared purpose - what binds us together as a country truly is stronger than what divides us.

Our first step is to create a forum - America’s Front Porch - where all kinds of people, from all walks of life, can sit together and talk and listen to one another, as neighbors. We’ll talk about how we’re different, about how we’re the same, and about how we can all find ways to work together. As singer Tracy Lawrence put it, “If the world had a front porch like we did back then, we’d still have our problems, but we’d all be friends.”

We believe in walking in each other’s shoes

One of the primary tenets of The Promiseland Project is that we need to actively walk in each other’s shoes to build bridges of empathy between individuals and communities. To bring this tenet to life and put boots on the ground, the Promiseland Project will be traveling to cities, big and small, across the country to host conversations on America’s Front Porch.

Our first visit was selected when one dart was thrown by the one and only Matthew McConaughey during founder Roy Spence’s keynote speech at SXSW, and it landed right on Watford City, North Dakota.

Follow our upcoming conversations in North Dakota

The Promiseland Project will be traveling to North Dakota on October 14th to host our first America’s Front Porch conversation with the Watford City community. Follow our activities and get the latest updates on our Facebook event page. If you’re in nearby North Dakota regions join us at the Rough Rider Center in Watford City on Sunday, October 14th for an afternoon of inspiration, front-porch conversation and entertainment.

First Up: Watford City, ND

When Roy Spence launched The Promiseland Project in March 2018, at SXSW, his good friend Matthew McConaughey appeared on stage, mid-speech, with a dart and said, “Alright, alright, Roy. Wherever it lands is where The Promiseland Project is going first.” He threw the dart and now we’re headed to Watford City, North Dakota.

America's Front Porch

The beginning of many “front-porch conversations”

The Promiseland Project will take America’s Front Porch to all 50 states in 8 years. The Texas Association of Builders, partnering with STG Design Architect firm, built America’s Front Porch for the Promiseland Project to host our conversations in Watford City, ND and across the country.
